Functioning as a traveling photo studio, Free Pictures is a project that asks “families” to pose for portraits in exchange for a partial ownership to an art object. Each Free Pictures piece is divided into three parts. The frontal portrait exists in the private homes of each participant. Exhibited instead is the portrait with backs turned against the camera coupled with a fabricated sculpture copied from the photograph. The art object is thus always incomplete, whether housed in private homes or in exhibition spaces.
