title Riot Citydate 2009 description
Utopian and political representations of the city are clearly a history of paths and decisions that were not chosen. There is an inherently destructive element in the new spaces that I propose because to choose these new spaces over the existing one is a willful act of rejection.
Riot City is based on six structural features of European cities that effectively produce a history of insurrections and riots. These six features include, mixed classed housing, easily identifiable locations of power (world banks, civic), open plazas for public gatherings, governments spatially near the governed, and organized within a large radial street pattern for mass mobility.
Riot City is composed of three hexagonal boroughs with an aesthetic pattern to produce a crown-like, jewel of a city.
